Exercise II

Change the sentences to use the structures ‘have someone do something & have something done’ or ‘get someone to do something & get something done’. Each one starts with ‘I’. 

1.      11. The dentist cleaned my teeth. (have)

I had my teeth cleaned; or

I had the dentist clean my teeth.

2.      12. My friend took her car. (get)

I got my friend to take her car.

3.      13. The window cleaner washed the windows. (have)

I had the window cleaner wash the windows; or

I had the windows washed.

4.      14. The toddler ate her vegetables. (get)

I got the toddler to eat her vegetables. 

5.      15. The teacher checked my writing. (get)

I got the teacher to check my writing.

6.      16. The secretary typed the report. (have)

I had the secretary type the report; or

I had the report typed.

7.      17. The shop assistant gave me a discount. (get)

I got the shop assistant to give me a discount.

8.      18. The shop delivered the food. (have)

I had the shop deliver the food; or

I had the food delivered.

9.      19. The children did their homework. (get)

I got the children to do their homework.

10.  20. My colleague helped me write the report. (get)

I got my colleague to help me write the report.
